  • 4 dedicated cores instead of 6 shared vCPU: the game's main thread gets cores no other customer uses.
  • 4 GB more memory, 80 GB more NVMe.
  • Headroom for busy evenings, more players, and the mods and updates you add later.

Published requirements

How the model is built

Memory
3 GB plus 200 MB per player. Base 3GB matches a hosting guide's figure that 'the server executable uses roughly 3 GB of RAM just on startup' before players or AI load. perPlayerMB=200 is calibrated so the model lands near 9-10GB at 32 players (matching the widely cited '8GB+ for up to 32 players') and near 16GB at 64 players (matching '16GB+ for 64'), the two concordant figures given by two independent hosting guides.
CPU
4 cores, one more for every 40 players. Both sources consulted agree the Reforger server is CPU-bound and leans on single-thread speed because AI (Game Master/Conflict AI), vehicle simulation and networking run on limited cores; both recommend a 4-core CPU as the practical baseline rather than more cores. playersPerExtraCore=40 keeps the model at 4 cores through the documented 32-64 player range and only adds cores for very large, AI-heavy 96-128 player servers.
Disk
15 GB for the server plus 10 GB for saves and backups, on SSD or NVMe. No source consulted publishes an exact dedicated server disk size (Bohemia's own wiki page for this was inaccessible). installGB/growthGB are an estimate by analogy to comparable dedicated server installs from the same class of game (roughly 10-20GB), not a directly sourced figure; treat this field as lower confidence than RAM/CPU. NVMe/SSD is recommended by hosting guides for load speed and to avoid AI/tick stutter.
Bandwidth
120 kbit/s of upload per player. No source consulted gives a bandwidth-per-player figure for Arma Reforger specifically. Estimated by analogy to Bohemia Interactive's own published guidance for DayZ (their other current dedicated-server title), which recommends planning for 80-120 Kbit/s per player; this is a derived estimate, not a Reforger-specific sourced number.
Mods (Bohemia Workshop)
Memory times 1.3 for some and 1.7 for heavy; a heavy load also adds a core.

Bohemia Interactive's own wiki page for Arma Reforger dedicated servers could not be accessed (blocked to automated fetches), so RAM/CPU figures come from two independent, concordant hosting-provider guides rather than a single developer spec sheet. Disk space and bandwidth per player are not sourced from any Reforger-specific documentation and are derived estimates, flagged as such; treat them as lower confidence than the RAM/CPU/port figures. AI density (Game Master scenarios, Conflict mode) affects load more than player count and cannot be captured by a player-count-only model.

What drives the load

  • AI count (Game Master and Conflict AI), not player count alone, is the biggest CPU cost; capping AI is the single most effective way to protect performance.
  • The server is CPU-bound and leans on single-thread speed, so a fast CPU core matters more than adding cores or RAM.
  • The server process already uses roughly 3GB of RAM on startup before any players or AI load in.
  • Tick rate and view distance settings directly affect server load and can matter more than player count.

Arma Reforger server questions

How much RAM does a Arma Reforger server need?

About 6.5 GB for 16 players and 28 GB for 128, before mods (bohemia workshop).

How many CPU cores does a Arma Reforger server need?

4 for 16 players, 7 for 128. The server is single-thread heavy, so the clock speed of one core matters more than how many cores it has.

How much bandwidth does a Arma Reforger server use?

About 120 kbit/s of upload per connected player, so 3.8 Mbit/s with 32 players online and about 435 GB a month if 35% of that cap is online on average.

Which Clouduxe plan should I pick for Arma Reforger?

For 32 players, VPS Pro fits the load and VDS FusionCore leaves room to grow. Every plan includes DDoS protection: 17 Tbps of upstream mitigation plus Clouduxe Prism on the server.
