Published requirements

How the model is built

Memory
4 GB plus 750 MB per player. Base covers OS + idle server. Per-player derived from the 7D2D Wiki guidance to 'add 0.5-1GB per additional player'; midpoint used. Reproduces official min (8GB at ~8 players) and the wiki's small-tier band (12-16GB at 4-8 players).
CPU
4 cores, one more for every 6 players. Game logic runs mostly on one thread, so clock speed matters more than core count. Base of 4 cores matches Steam's official minimum/recommended quad-core figure; extra core per ~6 players approximates the wiki's tiered core counts (6-core at 4-8p, 8-core at 8-16p, 8-12 core at 16-30p).
Disk
15 GB for the server plus 15 GB for saves and backups, on SSD or NVMe. 15GB matches the official minimum install size. Growth covers world saves/backups; larger maps (8192 vs default 6144) and long-running worlds need more. SSD/NVMe is repeatedly emphasized due to voxel terrain I/O.
Bandwidth
600 kbit/s of upload per player. Derived from a hosting guide's figure of roughly 50-100 KB/s upload per connected player; midpoint (75 KB/s) converted to kbps.
Mods (overhauls/modpacks)
Memory times 1.3 for some and 1.75 for heavy; a heavy load also adds a core.

Vanilla servers with 4-8 players run comfortably at the low end of these figures. Overhaul modpacks and 8K+ maps increase RAM and disk needs substantially. Cross-play between PC and consoles is capped at 8 players regardless of the server's configured max.

DDoS protection is on every Clouduxe plan. How Prism handles game traffic.

What drives the load

  • CPU clock speed matters more than core count. World simulation runs mostly on a single thread.
  • World/map size drives RAM heavily: an 8192 map needs 2-4GB more than the default 6144 map.
  • RAM usage climbs the longer the server runs. Scheduled restarts every 12-24 hours are common practice.
  • Large overhaul modpacks (e.g. Darkness Falls) can add 4-8GB of RAM on top of a vanilla baseline.

7 Days to Die server questions

How much RAM does a 7 Days to Die server need?

About 10 GB for 8 players and 51 GB for 64, before mods (overhauls/modpacks). Base covers OS + idle server. Per-player derived from the 7D2D Wiki guidance to 'add 0.5-1GB per additional player'; midpoint used. Reproduces official min (8GB at ~8 players) and the wiki's small-tier band (12-16GB at 4-8 players).

How many CPU cores does a 7 Days to Die server need?

5 for 8 players, 14 for 64. The server is single-thread heavy, so the clock speed of one core matters more than how many cores it has. Game logic runs mostly on one thread, so clock speed matters more than core count. Base of 4 cores matches Steam's official minimum/recommended quad-core figure; extra core per ~6 players approximates the wiki's tiered core counts (6-core at 4-8p, 8-core at 8-16p, 8-12 core at 16-30p).

How much bandwidth does a 7 Days to Die server use?

About 600 kbit/s of upload per connected player, so 4.8 Mbit/s with 8 players online and about 544 GB a month if 35% of that cap is online on average. Derived from a hosting guide's figure of roughly 50-100 KB/s upload per connected player; midpoint (75 KB/s) converted to kbps.

Which Clouduxe plan should I pick for 7 Days to Die?

For 8 players, VDS OmniCore fits the load and VDS PrimeCore leaves room to grow. Every plan includes DDoS protection: 17 Tbps of upstream mitigation plus Clouduxe Prism on the server.
